About Ron Morton

I was born in the coal mining area of Pennsylvania and moved to “upstate” New York when I was ten years old. “Upstate” being just five miles from the Pennsylvania state line. Upon graduation from high school, I started what would be a 22 year career n the Navy that would take me through Europe and much of the Pacific area, but ironically, never aboard ship. That career did bring me to Winter Harbor, Maine where I met my wife of thirty-five years.

For the next sixteen years, my wife, Sharon and a growing family of , in order of appearance, Tammy, Rhonda, and Adam traveled through Alaska, Okinawa, Maryland, Alaska again and back to Winter Harbor. Since then, I have had the pleasure of walking Tammy down the aisle, and performing the wedding vows for both Rhonda and Adam in my capacity of Notary Public. Sharon and I are now the proud grandparents of five grandchildren, three boys and two girls.

When we are not working or traveling to see the grandchildren who live out of state, we are enjoying our youngest grandchild, Jacob. For relaxation, I have been trying my hand at gardening under the sometimes challenging conditions of the Maine growing season. Actually, the mild summer conditions are quite conducive for gardening. Other times, I have done my best to get an accurate fish count on the many pristine lakes and ponds in the area.

For the best Mother Nature has to offer, Maine with its diversified settings and well defined seasons offers perhaps the best canvass to display the beauty of the great outdoors. It’s just one more reason why it is said so often, “Maine, the way life was meant to be.”
